Instructional Design
Expert Storytelling. Interactive Learning.
I am a historian and instructional designer dedicated to building immersive digital learning objects. Whether I’m designing for the classroom or the boardroom, my goal remains the same: to create accessible, visually compelling, and instructionally sound experiences that empower learners. Case Study: Scaled Analytical Thinking - Engineering a Blended Learning Ecosystem

Project Summary
This initiative involved the end-to-end design and development of a blended, multi-modal learning ecosystem engineered to improve proficiency in high-stakes analytical environments. By replacing passive, traditional instructional models with interactive, scaffolded digital sandboxes, the project systematically builds cognitive capacity. This ecosystem utilizes a combination of immersive Storyline simulations for foundational literacy and targeted Rise 360/microlearning assets for methodological mastery, ensuring that learners move beyond rote memorization to achieve advanced data synthesis and critical decision-making capabilities.
Business Challenge
The primary challenge was a significant performance plateau in learners tasked with mastering complex, multi-variable analytical frameworks—specifically the Document-Based Question (DBQ) and HIPP methodology.
-
The Problem: Traditional lecture-based models forced learners to manage multiple, abstract cognitive loads (spatial context, temporal data, and analytical frameworks) simultaneously, leading to high failure rates and "compliance fatigue."
-
The Strategic Gap: There was no bridge between initial content exposure and high-level application. Learners lacked a "sandbox" environment to test variables, explore causal relationships, and fail safely before facing high-stakes summative assessments.
-
The Objective: To engineer a scalable, data-driven learning solution that isolates and scaffolds these complex variables, reduces cognitive overload, and provides measurable, actionable data on learner proficiency gaps.
